Ilyas Ustun, PhD

Ilyas Ustun is a data analytics enthusiast – his favorite being data visualization and data mining. He has over 8 years of data analytics experience in various fields including business analytics, data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, forecasting, transportation analytics, sensory data analytics, digital agriculture, health analytics, medical informatics and metabolomics.
 
Ilyas earned his Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering with summa cum laude. He earned his Ph.D. with a focus on transportation analytics and worked as a data scientist in digital agriculture. He has taught data science courses at the University of California Berkeley and the University of Virginia and mentored students at Thinkful. He published an online video course titled “Learning Python for Data Science”. Currently, he is a faculty in Data Science at DePaul University in Chicago. His research interests include data mining in the areas of business analytics, transportation analytics, health analytics, and deep learning. He is very passionate about data science and publishes on his website www.datacademy.co dedicated to “All Things Data”.
 
Ilyas enjoys attending data analytics conferences and meetups. In his spare time, he loves hanging out with his kids, swimming, exploring nature and playing video games.
