• 10:00 – 10:30 am Faculty Mentors and student introductions
• 10:30 – 11:15 am Introduction to Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine
Learning (Dr. Daniela Raicu)

• 10:00 – 10:45 am Research Presentation II (Drs. Daniela Raicu/Orheanu)

• 11:30-12:00pm Study time: DS, AI, ML, papers related to the presented projects (led by
Dr. Tchoua)

Wednesday, January 10: 10 am – 12 pm

• 10:00-11:00am Basic Statistics Review (Dr. Thiru Ramaraj)
• 11:00 – 11:30 am Project and mentor assignment (all students and mentors, session
led by Dr. Furst)
• 11:30 – 12:00pm How to review a research paper and search for research papers using
DePaul library (Dr. Jacob Furst)


Friday, January 12 – study time: papers related to assigned projects, data access, meeting with
the mentor


Research meetings: Larger weekly group research meetings with other students (including Master’s and PhD
students) starting week 2 (January 15 – January 18) of the program:
Mondays, 12 – 2 pm (room CDM 723)
Thursday, 12 – 2 pm (room CDM 723)
Note: Students will attend only one of these meetings depending on the assigned projects
Weekly Friday meetings: Starting week 2, the students will give updates on their
projects. Fridays, 2 pm – 3 pm (room CDM 723
