Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholars – 2024

Fernanda Cabral is a fourth-year student at DePaul University, where they are pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies (BA) and Data Science (BS). She is excited to join the Motorola Solutions Scholars Program in the hopes of developing data science research skills to apply to solving humanitarian and sustainability problems. In her free time, Fernanda enjoys reading, knitting, and going for walks around Chicago.

Hello, my name is Jeff Liggett and I am a current undergraduate sophomore at DePaul University majoring in computer science. I am involved with multiple extracurriculars on campus including the Honors Program and a position on the executive board of DePaul’s largest philanthropic student organization, DemonTHON. I am very interested in how computer science and data science skills can be applied to solve problems in biological and medical fields. In my free time I enjoy playing guitar and exploring Chicago.

Hey, I’m Brandon Kong! I’m a Junior at DePaul majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Software Development. Beyond the classroom, I actively contribute to open-source software for Chicago’s public transportation infrastructure and game technology. I’m a tutor and mentor to many students from K-College, focusing on areas such as Physics, Algebra, and Computer Science. I also enjoy playing chess; although I lose often, I enjoy strategic thinking and complex problem-solving.

Hello, my name is Huy Nguyen. I am currently a sophomore pursing my bachelor’s for computer science. I am particularly interested in designing games and the complexity behind games. Besides designing games and furthering my understanding of games, I like to think about how I can improve something even further, no matter the topic. If I am not learning or studying, I am most likely reading. I particularly enjoy reading, especially if the content aligns with my favorite genres of mystery or fantasy.

My name is Om and I am a sophomore at DePaul University studying Math and Computer Science with a minor in Economics. In my free time, I love to play tennis and go on runs, which I try to do at least a couple of times a week. I am passionate about helping others, and seeing other students’ successes motivates me to take on more challenges.
